  • Login to your computer with administrative privileges.
  • Click on the Start button and type in gpedit.msc in the Run dialogue box (this will open the Group Policy editor MMC)
  • Under Local Computer policy, expand Computer Configuration
  • Expand Administrative Templates
  • Expand Network
  • Select QOS Packet Scheduler
  • On the Right-hand Pane,double click on Limit Reservable Bandwidth and click on the Enabled Radio Button, in the Settings tab.
  • Just below that, make sure that you enter the value 0 (zero) next to Bandwidth Limit (%)
  • Click Apply and Ok and exit the Group Policy Editor.
  • Restart Computer

Increase the size of the temporary internet files cache so that web pages can open faster:

By increasing the size of the Temporary Internet Files Cache, you can see a considerable improvement in your internet connection. This is because, when you revisit a webpage after increasing Temp Files Cache, most of the images would already be present here – thereby making it possible for webpages to load up faster.

Follow the steps given below to do this:

For Internet Explorer::

  • Start Internet Explorer
  • On the Tools menu, click Internet Options
  • On the General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click Settings
  • In the Settings dialog box, under Check for newer versions of stored pages:, click the
  • Automatically radio button.
  • In the Temporary Internet files folder section, set the Amount of disk space to use to at least 250 megabytes (MB).You can increase this size according to your requirements and check the speed.
  • Click OK
  • Restart Internet Explorer

For Mozilla Firefox:

  • Start Mozilla Firefox
  • On the Tools Menu, Select Options
  • Click on the Advanced Button and then Select the Network Tab
  • Under Offline Storage, set the Amount of disk space for Offline Storage to at least 250MB. (Again, you can increase this number, according to your requirements.)
  • Click OK
  • Restart Mozilla Firefox

Speed up browsing by turning off graphics and animation:

For Internet Explorer:

  • On the Tools menu, click Internet Options
  • In the Internet Options dialog box, click Advanced tab
  • In the Settings box, scroll down to the Multimedia section. Clear the following boxes (according to your needs)

a. Play animations in Web pages
b. Play sounds in Web pages
c. Play videos in Web pages
d. Show pictures

  • Click Apply

For Mozilla Firefox:

Go to Tools – > Options and Click on the Content button – Now Clear the Option Load Images Automatically and then Click on OK.

More options to speed up your internet connection:

  • Send emails using Distribution Lists.
  • Reduce the size of your emails by using simple email signatures.
  • Browse Offline by saving webpages to your computer.
  • Reduce the size of your attachments and send multiple files by compressing them before sending. (you can use applications like Winzip or WinRAR for this purpose.)
